Welcome to 2021, and to the first MDG Newsletter of the year!

 

A reminder about the call for papers for a special issue on Anti-Racism, Anti-Fascism, and Anti-Discrimination in and through Music Education in the MDG journal, Action, Criticism, and Theory for Music Education, guest edited by Nasim Niknafs.

 

The MayDay Group is delighted to share news of several book announcements: Education, Music, and the Lives of Undergraduates: Collegiate A Cappella and the Pursuit of Happiness by Roger Mantie and Brent C. Talbot; Difference and Division in Music Education, edited by Alexis Anja Kallio; and Popular Music Pedagogies: A Practical Guide for Music Teachers by Matthew Clauhs, Bryan Powell, and Ann C. Clements. Congratulations, all!

 

There are also announcements from the International Society for Music Education (ISME), Bergen Summer School, and Mountain Lake Symposium.

 

The MayDay Group is pleased to announce calls for Congress 2021 / Canadian University Music Annual Conference and the Minnesota Society for Music Teacher Education (deadline today!), as well as extended deadlines for the International Symposium on the Sociology of Music Education (ISSME) and a special issue on Women in Popular Music in the Journal of Popular Music Education.

 

Additionally, there are calls for nominations for the International Association for the Study of Popular Music-Canada (IASPM) Book Prize and American Educational Research Association (AERA) Outstanding Early Career Paper in Music Education, as well as a few position vacancies.
