The MayDay Group is pleased to share news of several upcoming conferences and calls for proposals. The International Association for Popular Music (IASPM) has two announcements: IASPM is launching a new monthly Online Research Seminar Series in December; and IASPM-USA is now accepting proposals for their 2021 conference.
 
The International Symposium on the Sociology of Music Education (ISSME) 2021 has announced a call for papers for their 2021 virtual conference. There are also calls for contributions for Flip it and Reverse it: Hip Hop Worldwide and The Orff Echo.
 
The Ontario Music Educators’ Association (OMEA) is seeking an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Director. Information on nominations can be found below. Finally, please save the date for the 2nd Biennial Disability Studies and Music Education Symposium.

The McGill Music Graduate Students’ Society (MGSS) is pleased to announce a call for papers for its 34th annual Symposium (virtual). The ABLE Assembly is also seeking proposals on intersectionality, disability, and arts education for the 2021 conference. Registration is now open for the conference Music, Mediation, and Disability: Representation and Access.

There are numerous virtual events coming up, so mark your calendars: a webinar on Critical Pedagogy in Music Teacher Education, an American Orff-Schulwerk Association Virtual Symposium, Narrative Inquiry in Music Education (NIME8) conference, and Fostering Wellbeing in Times of Global Crisis conference. There are also calls for the ISPME Seminar for Graduate Students, ISME Decolonising and Indigenising Music Education, and Smithsonian Pathways.
The Council for Research in Music Education and AERA Division K are soliciting nominations for awards. Nominations are also open for the Popular Music Education SIG of ISME. The MayDay Group invites all members to attend a Town Hall on Friday, October 16 (6-7:30 p.m. ET) and/or Saturday, October 17 (10-11:30 a.m. ET) to discuss revisions of our Action Ideals. Check the website and MDG social media for the links to join these events.
In this edition of the newsletter, there are several conference and webinar announcements that we would like to draw your attention to: NIME7 will take place October 15th-16th, and World Music Pedagogy webinar will take place October 17th. Mountain Lake Colloquium has extended their deadline, International Symposium on the Sociology of Music Education (ISSME) has announced a virtual conference and, unfortunately, the International Society for the Philosophy of Music Education (ISPME) conference will be canceled this year.
The American Educational Research Association (AERA) is seeking nominations for the Music Education SRIG; and the International Society for Music Education (ISME) is happy to announce that the Decolonising and Indigenising Music Education SIG is now launched.
